Bio
John Brakenridge, as CEO of The New Zealand
Merino Company, is recognised as an expert at transforming
commodities into natural icons. Today, NZM is responsible for the
sale of approximately $127 million of fibre per annum, virtually
all of which is exported.
John believes that New Zealand's primary industry
has huge untapped potential and that the key to the success of
primary sector innovation in a market context 'it's not what we're
producing - it's how we're selling it'.
John is a graduate of Lincoln University and also holds an MBA from
the University of Canterbury. He recently completed a post-graduate
programme in Strategic Marketing Management and Managing Talent for
Strategic Advantage at the Stanford University Graduate School of
Business, and has developed a close strategic alliance between The
New Zealand Merino Company and Stanford.
John was recently on the investment advisory panel to the
Government's Primary Growth Partnership initiative and is currently
on the board of Landcorp Farming Limited.
In October 2010 John was selected as the winner of the Outstanding
Leader category at the NZTE International Business Awards.
